Swine’s

Things have been going good at home. Dawnell has been fighting with our son’s school since one of the teachers doesn’t want to accept some of his grades because the teacher feels that the work should have been finished in class and not at home. I am glad Dawnell is standing up because I usually jump in and go to far which ends up getting nothing done but making everyone mad. Although my mom always told me to go to the top and go for the throat.

We still don’t have any water at work. Still using the port-a-potty’s which is really going to suck this weekend since we are going to have storms. Going out in the rain to go to the bathroom doesn’t sound like fun.

The check engine light came on in Shane’s truck yesterday and I stopped and checked it out. It read as a vacuum hose, I reset the light but it came back on this morning. I will have to check and see if I can find it. That truck is starting to nickle and dime me to death. I actually thought it was in better shape but it had a high pressure oil leak, bad shocks, the transmission needs work and when I got it the radiator was half empty which I was lucky to have caught. It goes to AAMCO on Monday for the Tranny.

I had some issues with this so if you tried to comment or something it should be fixed now. Thanks Kyle. Sorry about the problems.

SWINE FLU IS BACK

I remember in the 1970’s the big panic about the Swine Flu, people standing in line for hours to get the shot and then getting sick from that shot.

Swine Flu is a virus that mutated from pigs and then at some point was transmitted to humans.

An outbreak of more than 800 “influenza-like” cases in Mexico was caused by a deadly new strain of swine flu “that can attack anyone,” Mexican Health Minister Angel Cordova said Friday, amid fears the infectious disease may have spread to the United States. Most of the cases in Mexico have occurred in healthy young adults and over 20 deaths have been reported there.

The Mexican government ordered that all classes in Mexico City and the surrounding state be cancelled on Friday, from pre-schools to universities. It also warned the public to avoid gathering places and major events.

On Thursday, Canadian health officials issued a travel advisory warning travellers who have recently returned from Mexico to be on alert for flu-like symptoms that could be connected to the illness.

The unusual influenza A H1N1 viruses were first reported earlier this week as U.S. health officials scrambled to deal with the diagnosis of seven people with the never-before-seen strain in Texas and California. The states share a border with Mexico not far from a town where two deaths were reported.

SUPER BOWL IN LONDON?

The NFL has had ’substantive talks’ with officials in London about holding the Super Bowl in the city, a senior league official has told BBC Sport.

While commissioner Roger Goodell has previously admitted an interest in bringing the game to London, the BBC reports that this is the first confirmation of discussions.

The venues for the next three Super Bowls have already been decided with Dolphin Stadium in Florida, Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Texas and the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indiana putting together successful bids.

But London has become the focal point for the NFL’s desire to expand the sport globally, and bringing the sport’s showpiece event to the city appears to be a real possibility.

Many people collect them, others stack them up, the highest being 40,000 which stood at 9.70 meters, some people throw them, the record for the longest throw is 38.26 meters thats 125.5 feet. We are talking about Beer Mats (coasters) of course. But now the worlds largest producer of beer mats has gone bankrupt and may be calling it quits.

The cardboard mat were great because they protected the table and didn’t cost the bar owner anything because the advertisers paid for everything. Customers would use them to entertain themselves throughout the evening by building “card houses” and playing tricks with them as they drank.

I remember sitting in Scotland and seeing who could hit the door from the farthest away. The winner got a free pint of heavy.

There was always one or two that had a good picture or good saying that you just really wanted to save but by the end of the night you ended up losing it or forgetting it. I even remember one that had a really ugly lady on it and then later in the night the watress put down another one with a very pretty one on it, either that or the beer really did make her look better.

The cardboard beer mat made its debut back in 1880.

Take a look at some mats here:
