LITTLE BROTHER IS WATCHING YOU

Everyone knows the saying “Big Brother Is Watching You”. But if you want to work for the city in Bozeman Montana its “little brother” who will be watching you. If you apply for a job in the city you may be asked for more personal information than you expected including any and all current personal or business websites, web pages or memberships on any Internet-based chat rooms, social clubs or forums, to include, but not limited to: Facebook, Google, Yahoo, YouTube.com, MySpace or other such sites.

City attorney Greg Sullivansays “The City takes privacy rights very seriously, but this request balances those rights with the City’s need to ensure employees will protect the public trust”. “So, we have positions ranging from fire and police, which require people of high integrity for those positions, all the way down to the lifeguards and the folks that work in city hall here. So we do those types of investigations to make sure the people that we hire have the highest moral character and are a good fit for the City.”

Article 2, Section 10 of the Montana Constitution reads “the right of individual privacy is essential to the well-being of a free society and shall not be infringed without the showing of a compelling state interest.”

With all the talk of Nuclear war and everything else going on in Korea, the DPRK (North Korea) qualified for the World Cup finals for the first time since 1966.

North Korea reached the World Cup finals for the first time in 44 years after drawing 0-0 with Saudi Arabia on Wednesday night.

The national side are synonymous with one of the greatest shocks in the history of the competition when, in 1966, they defeated Italy 1-0 thanks to a goal from Pak Do Ik.

While I was at work, I tried to read about the World Cup and the news site was blocked because it was about North Korea and the story was in a Canadian news site. But later I clicked on a link about a fake Fox News story and it took me straight to the NORMAL website. For those who don’t know, NORMAL stands for The National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws.

Oh, I also can’t get to my Navy Federal savings account because it is personal finance but I can read news on Al Jezeera English’s website.

Go figure.
