Baptism Wars

I didn’t get much sleep on Saturday after work. I had a hard time getting into bed and once I did, I just couldn’t get to sleep. I finally drifted off around noon and at 1 or so, my son came in and woke me up to ask me a question, after that, I was up until around 4 and then slept again until aound 6 or so. As a result, work dragged forever and ever.

We plan on taking our son to the Amazing Pizza Machine for his birthday, he will take a friend with him. We were going to go on Monday, which would have been alot better and less crowded but his friend couldn’t go, so we will hopefully get there early when they first open so it isn’t so bad.

A motorist called police to report that an escaped gorilla was running along a busy road and that they were ‘concerned for his safety’.

What they found was a human, Rory Coleman dressed in a gorilla costume, running along the road for charity.

After confirming that the running groilla was actually a man, the police made a donation to the charity, the Gorilla Organization.

Real Ape?

Real Ape?

Actually, if the police had looked around they would have seen quite a few “gorilla’s” running around the city streets for the “Great Gorilla Run 2009″.

Iran says it tested new missile’s with a range of about 100 miles.

No word yet on when Israel plans on attacking Iran and starting World War III but Israel’s battle with Jordan continues over the River Jordan spot where “John The Baptist” is said to have Baptised Jesus.

The waters of the Jordan at this point are as fresh as one could wish, and the river runs clean and deep green beneath the trees flanking its course.

Officals agree that the site is most likely not the spot where Jesus’ baptism took place, the believe the actual spot is several miles down streem, near a dam where salinated waste water and stinking waste from a sewage plant is released into the water.

On the Jordan side of the river excavations have revealed the remains of no less than 21 ancient buildings in this remote area, evidence at the very least, of a strong tradition associating it with pilgrimage.

At the heart of the complex are the ruins of five churches built over a period of 700 years. Beneath one of them is a baptismal pool in the shape of a cross, for the Jordanians a clinching piece of evidence that they are the custodians of the place where Christ was baptised.

Across the river gleaming Jerusalem stone steps and terraces are being installed and facilities for large scale tourism are being built by Israel, but to get there you must drive through several miles of minefields, passing empty churches and monasteries. Unlike Jordan, Israel never removed their border defenses in the area.

Check out the pictures of the area and read the sad story of Israeli water hording and mismanagement.
