Vacation

We went on a small vacation this past weekend up to Hill City S.D. We went to see Mt Rushmore and Crazy Horse. It started snowiing there on Saturday night. On Sunday we went sight seeing, Mt Rushmore was pretty in the snow but it was hard to take pictures, on top of that there was fog which covered a lot of the mountains and hills. By late afternoon Sunday, we headed back to our hotel room because the roads were getting bad and it was getting pretty windy and cold. Our son went swimming after we got back but didn’t stay long until he found out there were a bunch of girls swimming.

On Monday before we left for home we tried again to go to Crazy Horse but it was still covered in fog. Hopefully we will get a chance to go there again when the weather is nicer.

We took all 3 dogs with us. They were great in the car and in the hotel room. The only problem was having to walk them to the pet area. Emma wanted to go out almost constantly during the night. Anika, our oldest and biggest bulldog likes to sit in one of the captain chairs in the van, it isn’t big enough for her to lay down so she sat the entire trip. It is funny to watch her try to sleep while sitting up. Stella our smallest dog gets on the bench seat in the back of the van and streaches out, and Emma usually sleeps on the floor with her head facing the front of the van. She likes to sit right between Dawnell and I and watch the road. She will sit for a couple of hours just watching.

We are lucky none of our dogs like to hang their head out the window when they are in a car.

We got home late Monday night.

I posted some pictures here:

One thing that upset me was I have America the Beautiful access pass for disabled veterns which should get me into all Federal parks and whatever for free, but at Mt Rushmore they don’t charge you to enter the area, they just charge you to park your vehicle.

At Crazy Horse, there are a variety of fees but they only tell you the 10 dollar per person fee at the gate. Of course we didn’t enter because it was not visible, but I found out my son would be free because he is Native American.

I can understand Crazy Horse because it is all done by donation and they do not accept federal money, but Mt Rushmore, 10 dollars to park? Come on…

A GOOD CAUSE

Drew Carey (yes that twit from “The Price Is Right”) will give $1,000,000 to Live Strong Foundation if he gets 1,000,000 followers on Twitter by December 31, 2009. So get on over to Twitter and start following @DrewFromTV.

This is basically what Ashton Kutcher @aplusk did in his competition with CNN on who would get 1 million followers first, but for Drew Carey, he will get the @drew moniker, from another Drew Carey.

And, of course, you can always get me at @pafundi. Although, I am not very interesting and only have 12 followers.

BILL CLINTON , BIGGER THAN LIFE

Long a hero in Kosovo, a statue of Bill Clinton will preside over Bill Clinton Boulevard in downtown Pristina. Before the statue was made a banner of Clinton is placed up on an apartment block, bearing the text “Welcome to Bill Clinton Boulevard”.

I am not sure if there are any George W. Bush Boulevards or not but I would think not.
