FEMA’s Christmas List

Well the snow storm is over. I didn’t make it to work on Tuesday night. I would have but a snow plow was stuck on the highway and I was told to turn around, so I went home since there was no way to drive around the closed area.

Wednesday morning, the tractor wouldn’t start so we had to start shoveling the snow by hand. My son wasn’t real happy with that but he did work very hard and I must say, thank the Gods for neighbors with snow blowers because they came over and helped and it was all finshed in no time.

When I got to work last night the highway was still snow packed with big patches of ice. The parking lot on base had not been cleared and I got stuck but was able to get out, thanks to the Ranger being a real trooper, and me making my own road over the sidewalk and grass. I parked in a cleared parking lot but was then told I couldn’t park there since the lot was reserved but I couldn’t figure out who it was reserved for since the building it is associated with isn’t even finished being built yet.

I think it is crap that the base feels it is more important to clear a unused parking lot than clearing a parking lot that is used for a 24 hour shop. ASSTARDS!

This year Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has assembled a list of gift ideas for the holidays to help keep your family and friends prepared. Emergencies can happen at any moment; these gifts can serve as a great starting point to ensure that your friends and family have an emergency communications plan, a disaster supply kit, and stay informed about emergencies in their area.

Just imagine the look on your kids face when they open up an shiny new Fire extinguisher, or that ever popular Foldable ladder and what kid woudn’t be happy as a pig is slop to receive Enrollment in a CPR or first-aid class?

FEMA also advised that, in addition to reading “The Night Before Christmas” to the kids, you take the occasion of having the whole family together to “develop a family disaster plan.”
