Captain Bligh

Last night was my Friday since I have a 3 day weekend. It will be strange to have a Saturday off. Already my plans for the day have run afoul since SOMEONE decided to remove the wireless connector from the family desktop. Now I can’t go in and update it and the net filtering software. I guess no one will be using it.

The past couple of days we have had a lot of freezing fog in the area, this morning was really bad and even the roads were icy again.

UDATE ON CAPTAIN BLIGH

Capt. Holly Graf was brought before an admiral’s mast with Rear Adm. Kevin Donegan, the commander of Carrier Strike Group 5, after an inspector general’s investigation found problems with her “temperament and demeanor vis-a-vis her subordinates,” said Cmdr. Jeff Davis, a spokesman for 7th Fleet.

Davis said he could not elaborate about what the IG had found about Graf’s treatment of her crew, but he said it had been taking place “over a length of time,” including when the ship was in port and at sea. Specifically, Donegan found Graf guilty of violating Article 93 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice — which covers “cruelty and maltreatment” — and Article 133, “conduct unbecoming an officer,” according to information provided by Davis.

Denver Public School officials are apologizing after a parent complained that a school lunch meant to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was stereotypical and offensive.

The lunch, was to include southern-style chicken, collard greens and a biscuit.

Denver Public Schools released a statement that said: “The plan to serve a Southern-style meal in recognition of Martin Luther King Day was well intentioned but highly insensitive in light of certain hurtful cultural stereotypes still harbored in parts of our society.”
