Iraq Gets 2nd New Flag Since 2004

I had to take my truck up to Blair NE to Woodhouse Ford to have it looked at. I couldn’t get it to into 4×4 low. Found out I had a mouse nest in the engine someplace. Now everything works good so who knows. I am glad the mice didn’t eat the wires and stuff in there.

Dawnell and I both had today off which was nice to have it off alone, usually Shane is off of school on Sunday and Monday so we are never really alone. Although I did spend my day up north at Ford. Tomorrow it is back to work.

After watching the Democratic debate and seeing Hillary and Obama fight and bitch at each other, I really think Edwards won the debate and tried to avoid the fighting and stick to the topics that matter to the people and the country. He did get sucked in a little, which is what dirty politics likes.

Edwards really did do much better getting the message out. Unfortunately he didn’t get the press coverage, Hillary and Obama got it for the fighting and dirty tricks as usual.

Obama continues to change his statements and avoid the tough questions.

Hillary is just a dirty politician.

It was really a nice to see that Fred Thompson dropped out of the race. He was such a sour puss and he really seemed like he was a mean person. He generated all the hype before he decided to run and everyone (Republicans) thought he would be great, but he turned out to be a real loser and a jerk who had no clue most of the time.

The world’s first commercial cargo ship partially powered by a giant kite is setting sail from Germany to Venezuela.

The designers of the MS Beluga Skysails say the computer-controlled kite, measuring 160sq m (1,722sq ft), could cut fuel consumption by as much as 20%.

Dictator turned President, Pervez Musharraf of Pakistan says there is a “zero percent chance” of al-Qaeda getting hold of his country’s nuclear weapons.

In an address to a French foreign policy institute, he stressed it was impossible for militants to gain any access to Pakistan’s nuclear arsenal.

“We don’t think it is possible that this al-Qaeda or Taleban can take over in Pakistan. We cannot be defeated like this.”

We all know that this is a man who can be trusted. How do we know? Because Bush said so, and we all know we can trust Bush.

Israeli and Palestinian envoys have clashed at the United Nations Security Council during a debate on Israel’s blockade of the Gaza Strip.

The Palestinian UN observer accused Israel of fuelling violence, while the Israeli envoy said his country had to protect its people from rocket attacks.

Palestinian UN observer Riyad Mansour said the council “must demand that Israel, the occupying power, immediately cease its collective punishment of the Palestinian people”.

But Israeli representative Gilad Cohen denied that Israel was violating international law.

Libya, the council chair this month, had drafted a text that would call on Israel to end its blockade of Gaza and ensure “unhindered access for humanitarian assistance to the Palestinian people”.

But American and French representatives to the UN said the current draft was unacceptable as it did not refer to militant rocket attacks on Israel from within the Gaza Strip.

Although it isn’t the flag that the United States wanted at the beginning of the occupation Iraq parliament approved a new flag. The three stars that represented Saddam Hussein’s Baath Party will be removed, to address the concerns of Iraqi Kurds.

The flag was also changed in 2004, when a line of script, allegedly in Saddam Hussein’s own handwriting, was changed to Kufic script.

This latest change – passed by 110 votes to 50 – is only temporary, as a design for a new flag will be sought after one year.

The United States wanted this flag new-iraqi-flag.jpg in 2003 but it looked too much like the flag of Israel for the Iraqi’s taste.
