A judge in Tennessee, has taken the unusual step of changing a baby’s first name from Messiah to Martin. Judge LU ANN BALLEW

ordered the 7-month-old boy’s name changed from Messiah to Martin DeShawn McCullough, saying that “The word Messiah is a title, and it’s a title that has only been earned by one person, and that one person is Jesus Christ.

The United States does not have a list of restricted or banned names.   It appears that Judge Ballew has used her position and title to imposed her religious beliefs on others by this decision.

Many people are applauding the judge for taking action.  Last year there were 762 Messiahs born in the United States.

What’s next, court rulings on the names we give our dogs and cats?
